7 alternatives during a ski holiday

It doesn't always have to be the slopes. Variety is key, as the Ötztal offers many different ways to experience the beauty of winter up close.

Paragliding

A bird's eye view of the Ötztal mountains: Experience the thrill of flight with a paragliding tandem flight, no extensive preparation required, and soak in the stunning scenery. The certified pilot handles everything else, allowing you to simply enjoy the adventure.

Tobogganing

What many don’t know: Around Sölden, there are not only endless slopes but also five toboggan runs. A particularly recommended experience is night tobogganing. The floodlit toboggan run from Gaislachalm/Silbertal, for example, stretches over five kilometres down into the valley. Tip: Don't forget to take a break for food & drink

Ski tours

Ski touring in Ötztal is the ultimate Alpine experience: ascending through untouched nature and descending through pristine powder slopes. Sporthütte offers everything that tourers and freeriders need – whether it's professional advice, rentals, or sales.

Snowshoeing is fun for one and all

How do active nature lovers explore the unique outdoor gallery of Sölden? With snowshoes – more than just an alternative to ski touring. Thanks to their oversized soles, snowshoes allow you to reach places that are often hidden during the winter months.

Cross-country skiing

Cross-country skiing is highly popular: Not only because it is considered an extremely healthy sport, but also because it's a lot of fun. For some, it's a way to train endurance amidst the deeply snow-covered winter landscape.

Winter running

"Speed through the snow" is the motto of this sport. Equipped with functional, breathable running clothes and grippy trail shoes, winter trail running becomes a true pleasure. There are over 40 km of well-marked winter trails throughout the valley.

Winter hiking

The 49.5 km of cleared and marked paths wind through snow-covered forests, across white meadows, and alongside the Ötztaler Ache stream. Each step through the snowy wonderland is accompanied by the crunch of the snow beneath your feet. The crisp winter air invigorates the lungs.
