Sporting challenge

Long, longer, longest: the Schwarze Schneid ski run in Sölden

Are you looking for a true sporting challenge? How about the longest ski run in Austria - the Schwarze Schneid ski run in Sölden? It runs from the highest point of the ski resort on the Rettenbach Glacier directly to the valley station of the Gaislachkoglbahn cable car.

Ski YouTuber “Marlenesleben” skis the entire Schwarze Schneid ski run:

Facts - Austria's longest ski run

  • Start: BIG 3 - The Schwarze Schneid platform on the Rettenbach glacier at 3,340 m

  • Finish: Gaislachkoglbahn valley station in Sölden (1,368 m)

  • Distance: 15 kilometres

  • Height difference: 1,900 metres of depth

  • Level: Suitable for skiers and snowboarders. Stamina and endurance are required.

  • Tip: Start as early as possible so that you can quickly make your way by cable car to the starting point on the glacier. On the way down into the valley, there are plenty of places to stop for refreshments and recharge your batteries.

Austria's longest ski run in Sölden spans 1,900 vertical metres and stretches 15 kilometres from the Schwarze Schneid down to the Gaislachkoglbahn valley station, where Sporthütte Fiegl operates two branches near the starting point.
