On the trail of the Ötztal Cycle Marathon
Sporthütte Junior Manager Markus Fiegl was one of the 4,024 men who participated in the 2019 Ötztal Cycle Marathon. Along with his fellow competitors, he tackled the 238-kilometre course, which included four Alpine passes and a challenging 5,500 metres of elevation gain.
The legend of the "Ötztal Cycle Marathon" inspires not only cyclists from all over the world but also many locals, for whom the annual goal is to participate and finish successfully.
In 2019, our Markus achieved this dream. What does it take? A clear strategy, plenty of motivation, and endurance. After all, preparing for this challenge requires riding several thousand kilometres and getting the body in top shape.
"Mission accomplished," was Markus' satisfied verdict after the race. He crossed the finish line after 11 hours, 6 minutes, and 7 seconds.
